Lactation Rooms

Harvard is committed to supporting a mother’s choice to breastfeed her baby while pursuing her career. New lactation rooms have been added across the University to bring the total to 7 in Cambridge, 3 in Allston, 9 in the Longwood Medical Area, and 1 in the Harvard Forest. Plans are underway for more. If you would like to ‘Partner with Us’ – see below.

Any nursing mother who is a Harvard affiliate (faculty, staff, student, affiliate or their breastfeeding spouse/domestic partner) can register to use any Harvard lactation room. All lactation rooms are equipped with a hospital-grade Medela pump and many have another space for private pump use. Women will need to provide their own Medela/Lactina accessory kit to use the hospital-grade pump. These can be purchased from the University Health Services Pharmacy for approximately $45, or from other local pharmacies.

There are lactation rooms across the University: seven in Cambridge, three in Allston, nine in the Longwood Medical Area and one at the Harvard Forest. Plans are underway for more. (see map)
